Building/Installing sqlite-odbc: libsqliteodbc not found

Context: I am building a single-user database application to be used by those running Windows. To make life easier for me and them, I want to use LibreOffice's Base application with SQLite as the rdbms back end.

LO's Base does not natively support SQLite; its native single-user database engine is hypersql (HSQLDB) written in java. I use sqlite and postgres and don't need to learn another dbms SQL syntax. So, I got the source for sqliteodbc-0.9991, configured, built, and installed it. Added the README file's suggested content to /etc/odbc.ini and ~/.odbc-ini. When I tried to connect LO's Base to the sqlite .db file it failed because it could not find libsqliteodbc.so. Sure enough, that's not on the system.

I've not before worked with ODBC or iODBC and have no preference for one over the other. What I need is assistance getting one or the other installed and working here.

All suggestions and advice appreciated.

Rich

If you built against V3 of SQLite, the library will be libsqlite3odbc.

Aha! I should have known this. Now the trick is getting LO's Base to look for the correct library. I'll ask how to proceed on that mail list.

Very much appreciated,

Rich
