I normally use Pale Moon, but that will not work with reddit. For that, I have to fall back on Firefox, but the scrollbar is impossible narrow. I fixed that by installing the custom scrollbars add-on, but the latest version 98 no longer respects that — it allows the colour to be changed but not the width. What's the best browser for reddit — I don't really want to install everything available and try getting a usable scrollbar on each one!
As usual, I've found my own solution. For the Firefox problem there are actually two possibilities. In about:config
1. set widget.non-native-theme.scrollbar.size.override to the desired width: not widget.non-native-theme.scrollbar.size, for some reason.
2. set widget.non-native-theme.scrollbar.style to 4; that's actually the code for Windows 10 — not the code for GTK (2), which doesn't make Firefox obey GTK configuration.
Incidentally,
@ !!! The solutions are obsolete or obsolescent.
@ teckk How does that help?
@ boughtonp. The old reddit does indeed work with Pale Moon, although who knows for how long it will be available.

Has been for a looong time, I don't see it ending. It's just a different (lighter) frontend for the same content.
That said, I prefer the new UI for some reason, and yes, it's very heavy.
Had problems with FF, I now use ungoogled Chromium + uBlock origin almost exclusively for reddit. Much more responsive and a few UI bugs present in FF are not present there.
