I dont think you can boot it that way...?

However; you can boot the iso from a ext2/ext3 partition

you will have to extract it to a partition; even inside a installed Linux system

Then, you must edit your Grub menu.lst

I can help you there

But, what Linux iso are you trying to boot???

Do you want your computer to boot an iso at startup or you want to mount an iso with the command line?

Please post the isolinux.cfg
you will have to boot from the extracted iso off hard drive

I need to know if you still have a grub menu.lst also??

i have no access to the system so if it requires it, this will answer my question then. I'm wanting to install ESXi

default menu.c32
menu title VMware VMvisor Boot Menu
timeout 80

label ESXi Installer
menu label ^ESXi Installer
kernel mboot.c32
append vmkboot.gz --- vmkernel.gz --- sys.vgz --- cim.vgz --- ienviron.tgz --- image.tgz --- install.tgz

label ^Boot from local disk
menu label ^Boot from local disk
localboot 0x80
