Another C/C++ IDE for linux.
mmm don't know.
There is an alternative to install wine , and Visual C++ from MS.Then using wine to emulate MS VC and to and fun with it;I didn't tried such a turn ( wine + VC++ ) but I think it is possible.
Also , why botther with dependencies ?
Just in install gentoo ( Best distro ), then just
Don't emerge Eclipse. Go to eclipse.org and grab the binary there. It's just to unpack and run. No install necessary. You will need Java RE or SDK though. And everything will have dependencies, it's impossible to not have any ^_^.
And Visual C++ under wine in Linux is a horrible idea, sorry. With so many good IDE's we have, for free, a great compiler and a great debugger... it's just pointless. Sorry again... it is...

Well that was a hint not an advice, I didn't use that combination at all, I just was thinking about
I didn't want to be mean (even though I sounded like that, sorry), but we have so many good IDE's. I have to say that Visual Studio is still my favorite one, but that's because I like to do DirectX stuff. Otherwise, Linux users should stick with Linux IDE for a lot of reasons. One of them (besides portability and non-windows only stuff as MFC) is the ability of creating Makefiles and other neat Linux-stuff =).
I use Bluefish (http://bluefish.openoffice.nl/index.html) it's really intended as a HTML editor, but I started using it a while ago, and just got addicted. Elegant simplicity - relies only upon gtk2 & pcre I think. It does code highlighting, and then just lets you get on with doing everything else yourself. I have tried a few other IDEs, but have always come back to Bluefish.. and besides the logo Rocks .
