Red face Backing up files on Windows boxes to Linux

I'll be getting a DVD burner soon. I'm wondering if I can use something like DAR (or KDAR) on My Linux box to back up files from other computers (running Windows) or are these programs only meant for backing up Linux boxes. I am well aware that this is a probably a dumb question.

I don't know if this makes a difference or not but I'm running Samba on my Linux box.

Thanks,
Tom

Id imagine you could backup any binary data with the program.

What do you think?
