Audio Problems

OK i know its not a hardware problem because i get sound on other things but it seems every time i try to open a media file of any type the sound or player won' work

could someone please help i can't live without sound

If you want any sort of help at all you'll need to provide much more information. Like what files (exactly) are you trying to play? What errors (if any) were shown while trying to play? Does video component work? Does a sound file (mp3, ogg, wav) work? Details, man, details!

You may have a sound process working
Sometimes beep-media-player freezes X on my computer and i have to go to console and kill the x process

so open a terminal and type
"ps aux | grep artsd" if you are using artsd
if there is a process kill it and this will work

does it work now?

I already fixed it today and it was a pain but i didn't know that suse 9.3 didn't support mp3 format
that and then i couldn't download updates do to not having a server but all is well in the world now
but thanks for trying (sometimes i even amaze myself)
