little help w/ audio cd problems

Hello All:

I'm using RH 7.3, kde on the desktop. I really need some sounds about now--I haven't had any from my box since migrating.

Can someone point me in the right direction please?

I'm pretty stressed over this.
Desperately waiting for relevant replies:

If you mean theres no sound from your machine, you havent properly installed your soundcard..post your soundcard name and model so that people can help u.
for audio cd's u apparently need a cable running from your cd burner to u r sound card. Best way of getting music from cd's is to rip it as mp3's or ogg vorbis using a ripper and playing it....

I do have audio--everytime I boot I get the little rh ditty.

As for my soundcard, I think I have a SoundBlaster Live audio card. (I'm a newbie, so let me stop guessing.)

How do I check to see what my sound card is?

Looking forward to your reply

And now that I think about it, yes I do have sound, because in addition to the boot-up ditty I also get to hear sounds from animation stuff and assorted web sites.

So, I guess I get no sound from my cdburner, but my sound card does work. This is from a newbie, so I have to disclaim just about everything I say re: my box.
Boy that makes me feel weird.

open the case and look at the card, it should have a name on it. Now, if you have audio then my next question is that, can u play mp3's? If u can then u r card is configured and working properly.
