audio player with pops like old LP

I enjoy listening to flac files ripped from my CD collection, using rhythmbox, or audacious players. I have installed Ubuntu 8.1 (great OS).

I hear occasional pops, like old LP discs. Transient audio spike, irritating. Same music file playing under XP using the windows audio player foobar has no such abnormal sound.

I understand this is a known bug, can anyone tell me how to rid of this irritation for this linux newbie?

thanks,

gychang

Personally, my 'fix' was to start using Totem Movie Player. You can easily add songs to your playlist, minimize the window, and do whatever you want with your PC while listening to pop-free, skip-free music.

Hope this helps
