Amorok has an equalizer, just hit the PL button on the bottom left of Amorok window, playlist window will appear and you will find it under the tools tab. Did you try "urpmi xmms" as root in terminal window?
The above link is a pic of my desktop with amorok open, playlist button circled, playlist opened with tool tab open, and equalizer open. That is from my default install, don't know why mine may be different from yours, but at least you can see what it does look like. Sorry I could not help more.
ok, messed up my system with some updates. Anyway the relevant part of that is the above pic link I gave you is amarok 1.2.1, I am now updated to amarok 1.2.2 and this is what it looks like: http://img140.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img1...ienpdx28sb.jpg
if equalizer is what you want, I found the one on 1.2.1 is better in my opinion, think I will be switching back, you will notice equalizer is now under tools-scripts-equalizer, did not make any difference on my sound at moment, but that may be because of the mess my system is at moment. Boot hangs at Start service sound, so must boot with interactive mode and leave sound off, then when running configure it, got some reading and fixing to do tomorrrow, lol
