apt problem

When upgrading Debian Woody there seems to be a problem with libpam-runtime. I cant seem to install any other packages because of this. I know that it may just be a broken package that I will have to wait until the maintainers fix it but in the meantime how do I clear out all the packages that apt has to work with and start over from scratch so that it doesnt even try to mess with libpam-runtime?

Shouldn't be any broken packages in woody. If they're actually broken then you should submit a bug report. It may be that it just conflicts with another package. Try uninstalling it with apt-get remove libpam-runtime.
