Anyone have an (asterisk) Voip monitoring test?

Have an asterisk box now,.. need to monitor it. Was thinking of making a script that could make a test call FROM it, and TO it.

Anyone ever done such a thing? Care to share the script?

Assuming a SIP call would suffice, my first thought was "there must be a Perl module for that", and sure enough. If you're not into Perl, I also stumbled across SIPp, which might fit the bill.
