Any way to install Windows on Linux using VMware WITHOUT Gnome/X?

Hey, I'm trying to install windows on my linux machine for programming reasons using VMplayer, but my X isn't setup correctly.

I always get weird errors when using things that need X.

When I try to re-install GNOME, it says I'm missing httpd dependency, when I in fact, have it with Cpanel.

So anyways, is there any way to install a virtual image of Windows on my linux machine without using VNC or X? Like through SSH/Shell?

-Thanks

ps: I just installed VMplayer, and I get weird errors like
Quote:
/usr/share/themes/Clearlooks/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:59: error: unexpected identifier `animation', expected character `}'
GTK Accessibility Module initialized
/usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmplayer: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libspi.so.0: undefined symbol: atk_hyperlink_impl_get_type
..so I don't think VMplayer can run without X, but PLEASE tell me I'm wrong.

-Thanks again.

Hi,

I might be wrong but I strongly believe VMplayer runs/should run under X. As you can imagine the player itself creates a virtual world for the guest to run inside and at any moment you can switch between the host and guest (which by the way, will be inside a window[hint, hint]).

So it looks like you are RIGHT not wrong about VMplayer needing X to operate.

I would use VMWare server, not player. While I have not done it, I believe that server doesn't require an X environment (I could be wrong, though).
