another screensaver problem

I did a search to ur previous posts but i didnt find "help"

k.....after i install dropline gnome, solved me some problems,but.. my screensavers dont work.i found some other articles that i had to do something with the power saving in a file(dont remember exactly)?????after that when i try to setup a screensaver from control centre->appearance and themes->screensavers it tells me that no configuration available for<screensaver_name>.????all i get is a blank screen and it asks for a pass to log me in again(this is how is setup)but no image of any of the screensavers.i use slackware 10.2 with kernel 2.4.31.i can found the screensavers in xscreensaver dir and i can xcute theem from there(double click).i guess it has something to do with the link of the screensavers to the xscreensaver dir.i've tried to run xscreensaver xscreensaver-demo as root and user but says that xscreensaver daemon doesnt wok on this display 0:0,it ask me if i want to run it now i say yes....nothing
any help????
