animated mouse pointers distorted on x.org

Hi!

I've recently installed gentoo (yes, i have to brag about it, stage 1 ), and whenever my mousepointer changes to "wait" or "background work" or summat like that (in short, whenever an animated mousepointer is displayed), the mouse flickers like mad, so it's like the mousepointer was 90% transparent.

I'm using KDE 3.3.1.

I'm also using a Nvidia GeForce 6600 pciexpress and 2048 MB of RAM, and the processor's a 3.2GHz beast with HT so that should NOT be a problem.

Anyone have any ideas?
