"anacron" gets hung when run telinit3

Hi all,

I'm running Redhat 4 and trying to install VMware tool V5. When I run "telinit 3", it will shutdown the machine and during bootup process it gets hung when trying to start "anacron" process and nothing happens. I would appreciate any help anybody could provide. Thanks.

Just read your question. Once anacron halts do a:
ctrl+alt+f3
this key stroke combination opens virtual console 3, where after the log in you will be able to work in tex mode.
