Alsa help

I am running Slackware 9.1 and built the EMU10K1 into the kernel (2.6.1), but i have no sound. When i use the alsamixer the mixer says on top left hand corner...

Card: Sound Blaster Live!
Chip: Cirrus Logic Cs4297a rev 4
Item: Surround Digital Capture

I have no sound when i use xmms, but i do have regular computer sounds. Some are kind of flakey sounding (static). Why is the Cirrus Logic and not the EMU10K1 posted in alsamixer? I am running the Sound Blaster Live too.

is the cirrus your second sound card a on board thing or so? then you have to change your also mod config by changing the number of soundcards to 2 At the bottom of /etc/modules.d/alsa

Set this to the correct number of cards.
options snd cards_limit=2

then run alsamixer again for the second sound card, your soundblaster

Wow - sounds like youre in the same boat I was just a few minutes ago

Make sure that 'Master' and 'PCM' (which can be reached if you keep pressing the right-arrow key in alsamixer) are un-muted (dont have the two 'M's ontop)

I dont know what 'chip' is... mine says "TriTech id 3"

If the above dosent work try looking at: http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php?page=FAQ007
