Question A program for FC4 to communicate with a Windows Hyperterminal Program at other end

Hi,

I am a newbee to linux.

I need to transfer files without using the internet with my friends very often.
Before I started Linux I used to use Windows Hyperterminal for this.

So I would like find out any linux equivalent for Hyperterminal.

Pls note that I need to send files to friends who are still using Windows Hyperterminal.

Thanks in advance,
vhasun

Lightbulb

I,m not quite familiar with LINUX.

I'm used to have Hyper Terminal before DUN was introduced on MS WIN.
ATDT #phone number was very fun to use.

Last time I use Terminal in Java system(UNIXware) for Dialing the Internet, There's no Kppp or any dialing program.

I havent try in Fedora 4 wich I've just explore.

Anyhow you can try by modem;

wvdial command from Superuser FD4 Terminal.(if it's work)

1)Configure the modem from
Preferences/system/hardware.

2)Find the file wvdial.conf then edit your login name and password.

3)Enter 'wvdial' at the command line.

The PPP daemon should be up and you're ready to your next command.

You can ask more for FTP command, wich I dont really know what.

Try using a Null-Modem. Here is some info to get started:

I did this once years ago and it worked fine... but with NIC's so cheap there is just no need anymore...
