[SOLVED] Read / Write (Buffer I/O errors) on external NTFS RAID

Hello,

I have a HTPC with Ubuntu 11.10 running XBMC. The HTPC is a Zotac zBox AD04 (AMD Fusion).

I have connected an external 6TB NTFS RAID5 (FANTEC QB-35US3R)via USB 3.0.

When I copy a large file to it with "cp -rv" (e.g. a 6 GB mkv) after ~2-3 GB I get write errors and the device gets disconnected, I have to turn the RAID off and on.

The interesting fact is, that in windows I have NO problems with the RAID! (I run chkdsk already). This tells me that the hardware must be ok!

What can I do? Do you need additional information?
Thank you for your time!

/edit:
I think I solved this problem by adding the parameter "pci=nomsi" to grub kernel line!

Greetingz!

I'm going to break my personal rule about responding to Ubuntu-based posts (as I don't use that particular distribution enough...)
Looking at the first problem....Ubuntu + NTFS on a RAID5 via USB3...and it dies 2 to 3 gb into a 6gb file copy. I'm honestly surprized it *worked*.
I'm willing to bet if you ran 'time cp -rv' instead of just plain old 'cp -rv' that you'd find the command taking the exact same amount of time to die each time you ran it.

However, when looking at the second problem, things start to make sense. It appears that the RAID array is going to sleep (standby)...
This might help.
