'vmmon' module fails to compile under Fedora Core 6
I hear from the 'grapevine' that VMware can be installed under Fedora Core 6. I have searched around for hours... even google'd and read some of the solved points encountered, yet I have not seen any mention of what I am experiencing. Maybe someone out there is suffering from the same...
Here's the actual interation log:
[root@laptop ~]# locate vmware-config
/usr/bin/vmware-config-server-console.pl
/usr/bin/vmware-config.pl
[root@zeus ~]# /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl

Trying to find a suitable vmmon module for your running kernel.
None of the pre-built vmmon modules for VMware Server is suitable for your
running kernel. Do you want this program to try to build the vmmon module for
your system (you need to have a C compiler installed on your system)? [yes]
Using compiler "/usr/bin/gcc". Use environment variable CC to override.

As you can see, I'm running the LAG (Latest & Greatest) kernel [2.6.22.2-42.fc6], as of today, and after much searching on the Net I have not found anyone with the same issue.
If anyone can contribute some clue as to what I may be able to try to install VMware, I would really appreciate it! :-)
VMware version I installed: VMware-server-1.0.3-44356.i386.rpm
Hardware: Compaq Presario Laptop V5000 series w/160GB HDD and 2GB RAM.
Distribution: Slackware64 14.2 and current, SlackwareARM current

This response is a little late, but I hope it helps you if you still got this issue ...
From what I know and read you have a fairly recent kernel version. In this case you might have to apply a patch to modify the vmware sources to build with your kernel. If you google for it you will find many hits, its called "vmware-any-any-update-xxx.tar.gz" where xxx is the version number. You can get if (at least) from http://platan.vc.cvut.cz/ftp/pub/vmware/.

titopoquito,
Thank you! I downloaded, executed and it built the module. Now to test and see if I can step forward from here.
