Hi,
I just installed vmware2 on my Ubuntu server. I had vmware 1.0.7 before, and everything worked fine (besides vmware-server-console), so I installed vmware2.
Problem is that I'm unable to get network on my virtual machines. I've set up the network as bridged, but it does not seem like my virtual machines get's IP. I've tried bridging to eth0 and 1. Eth1 is the active network card on the host.
The virtual machines is a web server and a ftp server.
In syslog it says that no dhcp offers are received...
it also says DHCPDISCOVER on eth0 to 255.255.255.255
seem like a bit funny netmask if you ask me...
/etc/network/interfaces says
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
This may be a stupid suggestion, but it might be worth running through vmware-config.pl again to make sure that something didn't get hosed up the first time. Also, in the vmware control center, do you see a bridged connection?

Hi, and thankyou for answering.
I've tried running vmware-config.pl many times now. I've tried setting up the network connections bridged to both eth0 and eth1. eth0 was standard, and that's not in use on the host. So I tought it would work when I sat it to eth1, but no :\
The control center shows a bridged connection.

Eh.. ok.. I just changed my network adapter 1 to another bridged connection I've made, pointing to eth1. Suddenly worked.
Really did not understand that!
