Using winbind to authenitcate with multiple domain controllers

I have a debian server that is joined to our domain. We have multiple domain controllers at each of our sites. My problem is that when I use
"net ads info" it shows a domain controller from another site. This works just fine but is super slow.

I wasn't using a /etc/krb5.conf file because I was letting it find the kerberos server via srv dns records. I'm guessing that's why it's defaulting to a DC that is far away.

How can I specify the DC that I want my server to use?
I've tried setting up a /etc/krb5.conf file and rebooted, but it's still using DCs from another site.

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks.
