Troubles browsing SAMBA shares

I did a fresh install of CentOS 6.5 x64 on my home server. In the global section of /etc/samba/smb.conf I changed this line to match the name of my workgroup:

workgroup = (our-workgroup)

I restarted the SAMBA daemon, but I do not see the server when browsing my network on my Windows 7 laptop, which of course is a member of the same workgroup. IPTABLES is not enabled.

[root@myserver ~]# service iptables status
iptables: Firewall is not running.

Additionally, I have 2 file systems exposed as SAMBA shares. I can reach the DVD share, but not the other:

# DVD Share
[dvd]
comment = streaming library share
path = /dvd
browsable = yes
writable = yes
valid users = dave
create mask = 110
# X Drive Share
[xdrive]
comment = x drive share
path = /xdrive
browsable = yes
writable = yes
valid users = dave
create mask = 110

Each of these are logical volumes that are mounted at the root file system. I completely opened perms on each in the hopes that it might be a security issue, but still no joy.

drwxrwxrwx. 72 root root 4096 Oct 8 00:04 dvd
drwxrwxrwx. 3 root root 4096 Oct 5 14:39 xdrive

The error when trying to access \\myserver\xdrive is:
You do not have permission to access \\myserver\xdrive. Contact your network administrator to request access. I'm baffled that I can reach 1 but not the other. In the above paths, I have to use my server IP versus name because of the network browsing issue.

It's worth mentioning that I am trying to accomplish this from the command line and not the GUI. While the latter may be easier, I do not wish to have the GUI running on this host. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I changed this line in /etc/samba/smb.conf and now I can see the server while browsing the network from my Windows laptop:

local master = yes

Obviously name resolution also works. Still looking for help with the 2nd share.

Anticipating that this may be asked:

[root@myserver ~]# testparm
Load smb config files from /etc/samba/smb.conf
rlimit_max: increasing rlimit_max (1024) to minimum Windows limit (16384)
Processing section "[dvd]"
Processing section "[xdrive]"
Loaded services file OK.
Server role: ROLE_STANDALONE
Press enter to see a dump of your service definitions
