ssh client diying

hi ,

I have rhel5.2 box I can access ssh from lan as well internet from within country(ghana)as i checked. but nobody is able to access ssh from india or other region. rest of service like http, ftp acceesible ok from any where but ssh is dying at client side every time.

server log gives below error:

sshd[11956]: Did not receive identification string from 119.82.113.214

could not understand the problem.

at the same time they are able to log in ssh in ubuntu box placed near rhel5 server.

The server's error message seems to be caused from an incomplete connection (at the application level). For example, I can generate that message by connecting via telnet and immediately quitting:

Code:
$telnet <host> 22
Trying 192.168.XX.XX...
Connected to <host>.
Escape character is '^]'.
SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_4.3p2 Debian-5ubuntu1.2
^]
telnet> quit
Connection closed.
I am not sure what "identification string" the message refers to or how far along in the login process it has to go to not get that message.

Is it possible for you to have somebody that cannot connect to your server with ssh run ssh with the -v option and for you to post the results here? (feel free to "scrub" any sensitive info before posting):

Code:
ssh -v yourhostname
