Hello, using linux mint 12. samba was originally configured with the gadmin app.
I logged on today, and noticed that there were 2x "samba" users in the list, so I deleted one..
Now, the one that is left... the password cannot be changed, (although the gadmin app doesn't notify of failure), and users cannot log in with the samba account.
At this point I stopped using the gadmin applet.
Now, using pdbedit -Lv shows this for samba:
Code:
---------------
Unix username: samba
NT username:
Account Flags: [U ]
User SID: S-1-5-21-1787190218-2025653600-1497103768-501
Primary Group SID: S-1-5-21-1787190218-2025653600-1497103768-513
Full Name:
Home Directory:
HomeDir Drive: (null)
Logon Script:
Profile Path:
Domain: HOTSHOT-X11
Account desc:
Workstations:
Munged dial:
Logon time: 0
Logoff time: never
Kickoff time: never
Password last set: 0
Password can change: 0
Password must change: 0
Last bad password : 0
Bad password count : 0
Logon hours : FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
Interestingly, when you run pdbedit -Lw it shows this (looks like a blank hash) password:
Code:
samba:1002:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX:[U ]:LCT-00000000:
Running pdbedit -x -u samba yields this result:
Code:
user samba does not exist in the passdb
Running pdbedit -a samba yields this result (after asking and confirming a password)
Code:
Unable to modify TDB passwd: NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL!
Failed to add entry for user samba.
Any idea how I can remove this user so I can actually configure it properly?
