Dear Folks,

we are facing an issue while upgrading our el4 server to el5.7 server .

we couldnt find upgrade option after booting from el5.7 dvd
its directily going to parition wizard .

kindly help us to update el4 to el5 os with out fresh note: we need to be update all pakage not only kernel to el5.rpm

friends kindly helps this situation . is there any other ways to update el4 to el5 ?

one solution is to install the redhat-release rpm of the 5.7 RHEL and then use yum update to do the upgrade

ensure to backup all the data before doing that because you may end up with breaking the original OS

i have 25 el5 (2.6-18 PAE) Linux box without internet access and i want do upgarde to 5.update.7...i configured yum repo server on one linux box (just copy the 5.7 rpms from the DVD ) but while run a yum upgrade command showing lot of depedncy pakage (that not included in rhel 5.7 DVD) after going upgrade fail,

what should i do this situation , i can give one linux box to internet access
is there any possible way achive this task without formating ??
