I have a brand new RHEL 5 server that we are trying to transfer large numbers of files to using vsftp and it will drop a core and close after a variable number of files have come across. We can initate the session, authenticate, enter prompt to turn interactive mode off and then we do an mget. After a variable number of files come across it drops a core and then fails.

Below is a copy of the vsftpd.conf file. I could not find anything relevant. The user name we are using is in the ftpusers and user_list. I am a little lean on other things to check.

We are attempting to transfer the files in binary mode and they are coming from a SuSE 8 system. The file names are in a standard 8.3 format and contain no control characters in the names. We have tried from different directories and the files are all either binary or ASCII text files.

Any assistance you can provide on this would be greatly welcome. Thanks in advance.

Wouldn't you be doing an 'mput' not an 'mget' ? ... could you try relocating the files to another host other than the SuSE box then retry the transfer ?

Could be faulty memory or a faulty nic in either server causing data corruption ... ?

I will try that. We have not put the server into production so hardware issues are certainly at play. Thanks for your insight.
