Powerpath and lvm.conf filter

Hey guys,
We use powerpath on RHEL servers, with at least 2 paths to each disk,
as you know the powerpath creates a pseudo devices called emcpowerX.
I was wondering if there is any overhead if we don't use the lvm.conf to filter out all sdX disks ?

Except the "duplicate PV found" messages on LVM, does it delays the boot of the server ?

thnx !

I didn't see any significant delays though of course it does take a finite amount of time to check and fail.

However, it spews all sorts of ugly messages because LVM doesn't really understand the PowerPath stuff. This didn't really hurt anything but I didn't like it so on my RHEL5 system I put the filter in.

Note that once you put the filter in you have to do a new mkinitrd to get it into your initrd as it is the initrd copy that spews the messages.
