Postfix, Dovecot, SASL - problem with authentication in Thunderbird / Outlook

Hi all,

does any one can tell me which authentication method should I choose that will be compatible with each email client - Thunderbird, Bat, Outlook ?

I have a server with multiple domains and realy big problem with configuration emails. I have found several tutorials but in each of them is a lot of mistakes. (In one server can receive mails, but cant send in other is problem with authorisation etc.etc.)

I would like to configure postfix to use emails without using mysql and system users.

Does anyone can help me ?

System is debian 5.

cheers

Dlugasx

So if you don't want to use "mysql and system users" what do you want to use for information on what users are allowed to access the system?

I would like to use postfix virtual users. This what I know to configure this system user is not necessary. Does anybody can help me ? Or maybe somebody knows working tutorial on the internet. Postfix is quite complicated to configuration a specialy with authentication in SSL.
