phpBB Missing Dependencies

Okay I'm feeling Tableish so a Table it is

Software
OS: Ubuntu Server 13.04
Program: phpBB
Problem: Required Files and Directories unwritable

Details: I am install phpBB to get some practice with servers and pass some time so I install Apache2 php5 and every else it took to get to the install screen I downloaded phpb extraced it into the /var/www directory under forum, loaded it up in mozilla start to install until I got to the requirements page every function checks out until the 'Files and Directories' box. This is where it goes south, every requirement lists as 'Found, Unwritable'. This is where I am stuck

Question: How do I find these and make them writable?

Hi,

AFAIK the apache user/group in debian distros is www-data/www-data.
So make sure the directories specified by the phpBB installer are owned (and writable) by www-data.

Regards
