One distro? not likely
IIRC, PPC usage in Macs went out before UEFI (point 1) came in. Make your mind up.
Arm has many distros, because there is very little agreement on the standard boot procedure. The one Arm machine I have learned doesn't do UEFI, because it comes up looking for firmware, not an OS or kernel. You neglected to say whether you have Arm servers or SBCs. Arm did introduce (rather late in the day) a standard. An "Arm Server Ready" (or is it Arm System Ready?) which means compliant boxes can be installed with linux fairly painlessly, but there are problems, notably:
- There is a distinct lack of Arm System Ready distros.
- There is a distinct lack of Arm Server Ready boxes outside the top end of the server market
- There is a distinct lack of a standardized BIOS like those supplied by AMI or Award for Arms.
- Arm Boxes in the main are price sensitive SBCs with various market segments in mind and firmware to get you going on a distro tweaked for them. You don't have a huge choice.
- At the other end are servers with up to 160 cores requiring a markedly different setup. These may in fact be Arm Server Ready.
As you've been around on LQ since 2007, jettwa2001, I can presume a modicum of knowledge and ability. I suggest you do your homework and come back to us with your question if you haven't solved it yourself.
