Exclamation Massing up with mysql and phpmyadmin

Hallo everybody
I'm running debian jessie on my VPS .
I was trying to login to phpmyadmin as root as i always did (did phpmyadmin people disabled root login from phpmyadmin web interface?) and i could not.
After many tries, changed root password from mysql command line, after i tried with different users i decided to PURGE mysql-server. I wanted back dbconf to reconfigure mysql-server and add again root from the beginning so i "rm -R" etc/mysql and var/lib/mysql, where the actual user's db is, right ? I have installed back mysql-server but it missed to create the directories i removed and to add a new admin user, it was not running, offcourse and now the best idea i have is to reinstall the whole debian jessie OS.
How can i have back mysql-server running ?
Thanks

Gab

Do you have a backup of your DB?
I think the best thing to do is re-install mysql from apt and then run
Code:
mysql_secure_installation
in order to recreate the root user pass and/or missing system tables.
