what kind of integration do you want to achieve? There is no one thing called "integration" that connects the two.

Look up Adding Linux to Windows AD. Are you trying to authenticate users in AD against the openLDAP server on the linux machine or trying to authenticate on the Linux machine against the AD? Trying to Replicate the AD users DB in openLDAP?

the users in ad? Well where is the angle to use openldap if they are already in AD? There are commerical gina's which can be used to authenticate users on a windows system against a non-standard system, e.g. ldap, nis etc... but if the user is in AD already then I don't understand what role openldap would serve. I expect it'd be pretty simple to copy passwords from openldap into ad if that's what you're after.

I don't think that windows AD and openldap can be easily integrated.

Thanks

Question Authenticating AD against openLDAP

Hello:

I'm very interested in how things are around this topic. I have to make a choice betwen openLDAP or Active directory. The problem is the authentication of Windows 2008 R2 machines (im -almost- sure that w2003 and wXP will have no mayor problems)
Do you agree that openLDAP would be easier to maintain and connect with other apps (googleApps, Confluence, alFresco)?

yasir453: ¿What was you solution in the end?

The thing is that i find AD easier to migrate to openLDAP than reverse. acid_kewpie?

Also, i think that will be easier to get those apps working with AD rather than W2008 working with openLDAP (everybody seems to be frightened with that). What do you think?

If I choose AD they will think i'm a damm M$ salesman or somenthing I hope the topic is still hot enough because i have to take a decision fast.
