Samba and LDap

There is no easy path to this work especially if you are depending on Yast.
My advice would be get openLdap up and running successfully then work on configuring samba to work with openLdap. What kind of functionality do you want from your Samba server to have on your windows network. Is going to be a domain controller? Does itneed to query AD and reply to queries. You have got to not be dependent on the graphical utility and understand how to configure the utilities on their own through their configuration files (etc/smb.conf is going to be the main one). There are alot of good articles on smb.conf. Samba is know to be a CHALLENGE to configure. The challenge is typically increased when you need to talk to AD.
Word of advise. Configure one feature at a time in your smb.conf save the working version of the file before you work on the next feature.

good luck
