Help with Postfix SMTP Authenication

Hi all,

On my Ubuntu Server, I have postfix running for Mail. Currently, specified IP addresses are able to send messages without authentication.

I want to allow all IPs to be able to send via SMTP using Postfix, providing they are a user of the system - ie they have a Linux Login and Password.

Is there any to get Postfix to authenicate Linux users?

Thanks.

Postfix offers a wide variety of authentication methods, and you can use and tune them to fit your needs.
You can get started up by reading this http://www.postfix.org/SASL_README.html, which in the basic setup uses the linux passwd database.
BEWARE, you should try a restrictive set of rules and read this http://www.postfix.org/SMTPD_ACCESS_README.html before doing anything.. you don't want to have a open relay (although I believe you have this SMTP inside a network with no external access).
