Well what do you want to actually do with asterisk?? there are loads of different ways to use it, with lots of technical requirements. If it's just pure voip, then there's nothing special, just commodity equipment for basic usage.
In general it sounds like you need to actually read some more of the standard Asterisk documentation before you start asking such broad questions to non-specialists.
