Something strange is going on with my website. Starting from a certain point in the directory tree, files are not found.
It is possible to view http://www.vangheluwe.org/sites/all/themes/test.txt: you can see the contents. On the other hand, trying to view http://www.vangheluwe.org/sites/all/themes/zen/test.txt doesn't work, although both files have the same permissions, the directories have the same permissions too and the directories and files are owned by the same user.
As a result, the theme of my drupal site is not displayed correctly (i.e. no styles applied because it can't view files in the theme directory).
You don't really think anyone can help you debug with insufficient data do you? Many will jump in and throw out loads of guesses. Seems counter-productive to me.
You need to give log messages, and where relevant, show your configuration and settings for the problematic areas.
Then ask for those specific settings for the "problematic areas".
I described the problem to my best knowledge. I'm so clueless about it that I don't know what more information I can give. It just seems so strange that a text file in one directory can be viewed, but a text file in another directory (subdir of the first one) can not.
Then ask for those specific settings for the "problematic areas".
You've got it backwards bub. Its your job to work to get the relevant info, not mine to play a guessing game. If you can't take the time to do a little research, and figure out how your system is configured, its gonna be tough.
And by the way, I gave you suggestions: "You need to give log messages, and where relevant, show your configuration and settings for the problematic areas."
I see no settings, log messages, or anything but your interpretation. Can't help without data.
or at the very least, how about a directory listing showing the files and permissions ?
Or using my awesome psychic powers I could divine that the directory name is NOT zen but is Zen in which case the page loads fine.. Linux and Apache are CaSe SeNsItIvE when it comes to file and folder names.
due to some weird internal Drupal stuff, the Zen theme won't show (if you're viewing on a remote server) if the directory where the theme files are located is simply called 'zen'. You should rename it to 'zen[insert whatever you want here]'
