error logging into squirrelmail

Hi guys,
im running a mail server, with Postfix, dovecot and Squirrelmail, its all fine, my biggest trouble right now is the new accounts i've created cant seem to login, all the old ones are fine.
When i try to login with the accounts i've just created, it returns this error
Quote:
Error opening ../data/default_pref
Default preference file not found or not readable!
Please contact your system administrator and report this error.
Can anyone Help?
thank you guys.

You can check config.php to find out where your data dir is and then make sure that it's owned by the user that runs your webserver. Most likely it has the wrong permissions and squirrelmail cannot write the initial preferences for a new user.

Regards

Hi,
Thank you so much, the data dir is actually /srv/www/htdocs/mail/data, i found that the dafault_pref file wasn't there, its really bizarre, i dont knw how it could have been deleted, i carried out a locate but its nowhere on the server, but i actually recreated a new one and put it the directory and changed its permissions and all is great at the moment.
Thank you again.
