I am trying to connect to my linux machine through the browser from another machine on the same network. I type 75.145.175.226:9200 into the browser and get no data received. This is my external ip address which I'm using because when I use the static ip (192.168.0.235) it doesn't work and just tries to google that ip address. I'm not sure what the issue is I have ssh working and ftp working from the same machine. So my question is what settings do I need to change or add so that I can connect to my server from a browser on another machine on port 9200. I am using Ubuntu 14.04 and I'm trying to connect to my elasticsearch node on port 9200.

Did you include the http:// as part of the url in the browser? You did not mention what browser you were using but some won't assume http if you include a port.
