Is this where you got your httpd.conf file from that you posted? If not will you post the one out of that directory?

If you look above the section that says .htaccess you will see another DirectoryIndex. Make sure it matches the one in your virtual directory. Also if you have made any changes to your config file the apache service must be restarted.

it must be something with permissions error 403 it has 500 right to /var/www/html and /etc/httpd/conf

/var/www/html should have atleast 444 so everyone has read access. I usally set mine up so that it has 755.

the problem solved i don't know why i made another folder inx /var/www with the exact same permissions as the html had i changed th root folder in httpd.conf and it worked idon't know the html is not accesible but itworked with the new folder
