I cant change the default test page in apache server to add my page.y


I am using pcq linux 7.1.i cant change the test page of apache server to upload my page. I have tried it out by changing its source code and again saving it. also i have tried out by replacing the page in /www/html/index.htm.but nothing worked out. could anybody suggest me regarding this?

what version of apache are you running?
Did u do a restart of apache? (it shouldnt need this, but who knows)
Are you sure that you're placing the files in the right directory?
Are the permissions set.
Are u sure that that's the page it looks for first? Look in /etc/httpd.conf to make sure that thats the first page it loads. Give more info in post

Change extension to .html you have to add .htm as an extension

The apache server coming with the pcq linux7.1 is the one i'm using.I'm sure that the test page downloaded when i type http:// is the index.html. i have located it in www/html/index.html.the page is not available in apacheconf.i have tried it too. im using x server.
