bind rndc not work:"rndc: connect failed: timed out"

Hello,

i got some problems with rndc, i could use it to control bind.
i got "rndc: connect failed: timed out" when using rndc.

i checked by netstat and saw rndc still listen on port 953,
tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:953 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
but i cant connect to port 953 by telnet 127.0.0.1 953. i also checked only bind open that port.
how to fix!
Thanks,

do you have a firewall on your machine that could possibly be blocking port 953?

Thumbs up named not starting and stoping

Just 2 reasons for failure in starting and stopping named service

1. /etc/hosts must have entries for localhost

127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
127.0.0.1 machine-name.bhelbpl.co.in machine-name

Specify the name of ur machine(hostname)

2. Stop firewall(iptables)
$service iptables stop
or
allow port 953 through firewall

update

In my case of the same Timed Out issue contacting RNDC the zone names used are case sensitive.
