Post Apache: unknown 503

Hi guys,

I have set up an Apache server that throws 503 no matter what (it does not when it is shut down

Here's an excerpt from my logs:
Code:
10.0.0.50 - - [03/Nov/2013:15:48:46 +0100] "GET /" 503 51879 "-" "-"
10.0.0.50 - - [03/Nov/2013:15:48:50 +0100] "GET /" 503 51879 "-" "-"
::1 - - [03/Nov/2013:15:48:51 +0100] "GET /" 503 52147 "-" "-"
10.0.0.50 - - [03/Nov/2013:15:48:55 +0100] "GET /" 503 51879 "-" "-"
10.0.0.50 - - [03/Nov/2013:15:49:00 +0100] "GET /" 503 51879 "-" "-"
10.0.0.50 - - [03/Nov/2013:15:49:05 +0100] "GET /" 503 51879 "-" "-"
10.0.0.50 - - [03/Nov/2013:15:49:10 +0100] "GET /" 503 51879 "-" "-"
Selinux is turned off.
Code:
 ~]# getenforce
Permissive
and, there is no error in the apache error log.

I do not use any proxy. All checks done by me are done using telnet localhost 80 and GET / to see what page am I getting.

Any hints?
Thanks in advance!

P.

What diagnostics indicate a potential problem with SELinux?

What's the Linux distribution and how did you install Apache?
Does "set up" include proper system and service configuration?
Does the docroot exist, is it accessible by the Apache process and does it contain actual stuff to serve?
Have you tried temporarily setting LogLevel to "debug" and then trying to access resources?
What does the web server return when you try accessing a non-existing resource?
