Apache server monitor and restart

My Apache server has been dying on a daily basis and I have to do a manual restart each time with "service httpd restart". Is there a way to monitor the daemon and does the restart automatically whenever it's dead?

If so, how can I do this?

Sure thing. Try using "monit". Here is a good HOWTO about configuring and installing it:

Regards!

P.S: You might want to check your log files to find out why apache has been dying. That is not really normal...

Thanks!! I tried to install it but the documentation and the description on the webpage had some discrepencies. For example, the startup command is different.

Anyway, I didn't find any log files generated by the program so I'm not sure if it's started. Can you explain what does syslog, facility stands for in the following? I'm suspecting that maybe my Linux build has a different setup so it dumped the log file elsewhere.
set logfile syslog facility log_daemon
