I'm the only linuxcomputer in a small homenetwork with an etech router. I have blocked several ports (to protect the windowscomputers :P) with the routers' ip/port-filters. Nearly everything works fine in the network so far, except for my amsn (msn on the windowsboxes still works). I probably blocked some port I shouldn't block. The ports I blocked are:
1 - 20
54 - 79
81 - 109
144 - 442
588 - 6665
for both tcp and udp. Please don't laugh, I'm a security newbie... But tips are welcome of course.
Which ports should I unblock? Msn doesn't make connection anymore, it just keeps trying...
A simple netstat --inet ladp while running amsn gives me this:
Code:
ctive Internet connections (w/o servers)
Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State
tcp 0 0 xx.xx.xx.xx:32814 baym-cs38.msgr.hot:1863 ESTABLISHED
