I have the same problem!

I have exactly the same problem as you, and whenever I try to remove profiles aMSN tells me they are being used too, I even tried removing all the profiles manually, but when I start the program one of the profiles appears! this is odd...
I think there must be a profile lock or something somewhere around .amsn directory, but I can't find anything...
Anyways, if you figure out how to solve this please let me know...

Hey, I found the solution. move your profile folder (the one that's got your account name and it's insida .amsn) to another place. Then Start aMSN and you should be able to login with your profile, then close aMSN and move your profile folder back to .amsn . That should Fix it! It worked for me! Oh and if it still doesn't work, try moving all the files back except the one that's called config.xml or something like that...
Hope it helps!
Good Luck!
