Tproxy on desktop ? why ?

I keep getting a web site tring to connect to this Tproxy thing . I am running Kubuntu 6.04lts with all the updates. I also have used firestarter to setup or configure the iptables. Anything else i should do or just forget about it because the firewall stopped it . thanks inadvance for your time.

I'm sure we can help you with your issue, but you're gonna need to provide much more details about your problem for that to happen. Are you referring to a transparent proxy on your desktop? What do you mean you "keep getting a website"? Once we understand what problem you are having we may be able to provide you with some feedback.

this is what i am talking about:

Time:May 27 20:16:54 Direction: Unknown In:eth0 Out: Port:8081 Source:62.193.238.113 Destination:71.205.135.55 Length:44 TOS:0x00 Protocol:TCP Service:Tproxy

I have never seen that appear on a desktop firewall log before.

Are you that source IP? Is it possible that what is happening here is simply that you are getting sent to a website that has its HTTP daemon listening on port 8081 instead of 80?

EDIT: Wait, never mind. I thought this was an outgoing packet. Upon taking a second look I see it's an incoming one, so I assume the destination IP is yours instead, right? Did you have any connections open with that source IP at the time? Was anything broken by this packet getting filtered? I'm trying to determine whether this packet should have been allowed instead of denied. If it's just a port scan or whatever then it's fine, I mean, it was filtered. It's very normal to get all sorts of port scans and stuff on your Internet interface.
