Simple linux noob firewall question

Hi, this should be the first thing I should fix, but it is #3 on my list of things to figure out, so I thought I would post this quick question, and while I am reading the forums for my other problems, I might get a simple answer.

Im new to any linux distro, just installed Debian with the netinstall CD. I have used basic Zonealarm for a firewall (with windoze) all my life, never had a local network, basically connected to the net with a cable modem, as I am now.

So im running debian, and using KDE as a desktop, and would like to know what kind of a firewall I could get, something that would be pretty simple to set up, but allowed for modifications if I needed later (simple but customizable.)

Here are some specifications that might help (dont wanna drag my system down with a huge application that isnt specific to my computer or network situation, and it helps people to help when they know how to)

Code:
Linux version 2.4.27-2-386
gcc version 3.3.5
(Debian 1:3.3.5-13)
159MB LOWMEM available.
Detected 451.029 MHz processor.
Console: colour VGA+ 80x25
CPU: AMD-K6(tm) 3D processor stepping 0c
Thanks, I appriciate the help even if this stuff seems simple to you guys.

most distros already come with a firewall called iptables. If you type man iptables and hit enter at a command line you will get an explanation on how to use this. This may be a little difficult for new users since it is all command line based. In my opinion the best GUI based easy firewall is Guarddog. Here is their site http://www.simonzone.com/software/guarddog/ .

Hope this helps,

Firestarter is another gui you might want to look into.
