Require key for shutdown/reboot or startup

Hi, I have a rather odd question. Is it possible to require that a public/private keypair be aronud for shutdown to work. That way I could keep the private key on a usb stick on my keychain and nobody could shut down the machine while I was not there, short of pulling the plug of course.

Thanks for any info,

Not really what you are asking, but it should do:

If you want to prevent root users from rebooting the system, then it's a whole different story

Thanks for the info there.

It is more or less what i was asking, the usb key was a good deal for the 'gee that's cool' factor.

I'll definitely take the buttons out of the menu though.
