Quesiton regarding Xinetd

If you have Xinetd installed on your system would there ever be a reason to ediit the inetd.conf file? or does Xinetd completely replace inetd all together so one doesent need to worry about the inetd.conf file?

Thanks in advance.

/etc/xinetd.conf default configuration file

unless you use
-inetd_compat
This option causes xinetd to read /etc/inetd.conf
in addition to the standard xinetd config files.
/etc/inetd.conf is read after the standard xinetd
config files.
