lock screen redhat enterprise

Hi, I recently installed Red Hat Enterprise WS version 3, but I can't lock the screen. I'm running kernel 2.4.21-9.0.1.ELsmp and when I go to the redhat menu (the hat menu in the lower left hand corner) and select lock screen nothing happens. It doesn't restrict access to the machine at all. On a similar note I use to be able to lock the screen by right clicking on the desktop. Now when I right-click on the desktop I don't have the lock screen option. Thanks so much for all your help.

If you're root, it may not allow. If you're not root, make sure xscreensaver is running.
